As well as this, the clients elderly father had also recently moved in to live there too. With such a large family living there, and with the children at an age where they were beginning to want their own space, space was becoming an increasingly big problem.

Asides from the issue of space, due to the fact that little to no work had taken place since its construction, the property also looked dated in appearance and fell far short of of the 21st century requirements.

In order to address these problems, the client told us that they wanted plans drawn up for a major renovation project to the house which would create space for additional bedrooms, and ensuite bathrooms to be built within the property. Included in these plans would be the conversion of the loft in the property, which would be transformed into an additional bedroom and ensuite bathroom. [/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”The Objective ” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:25|text_align:left|line_height:5″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]To plan and design drawings for two storey extensions both at the front and rear of the property, and create new building plans showing all the alterations which would need to take place in order to allow for the proposed loft conversion.

Also encompassed in the project would be the drawing of plans for a grander front entrance to the house, modernise the front exterior, and plans for a ground floor bedroom and ensuite for the clients father. We also created drawings for a new garage to be built, with the existing garage to be converted into more living space for the family.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”The Result” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:25|text_align:left|line_height:5″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]After having met with the family to discuss the options available to them, we undertook a measured site survey of the property and took photos of the areas where the proposed work would take place.

This allowed us to begin to drawing up location and block plans for the property which mapped out the changes to the new and improved layout of the property. With this completed, we swiftly moved on to the next stage which was creating the elevation floor plans for the project.

Once completed, we then met with the family again to show them the drawings, and check with them to see if they would like any changes made. Happy with the initial drawings, we could then move on to the next stage of the project.

This next stage was a tree survey and agricultural implications assessment which included an ecologist report. As with any renovation project which involves building in area with trees close to the proposed construction, this was a necessary process to go through in order to advance on to the proceeding stages of the project.

With the family happy with the plans, and the tree surveys and assessments complete, we could then set to work drawing up the final set of proposed plans and elevations, including a proposed drawing for the new garage which was to be added.

After this was completed, we could then move on to the final stage of the project, which was to send off the new drawings for planning and CIL application. Once approved, this would then give the green light for the builders to carry out the work to transform the house into an environment big enough for the family to live.
