Project Description

THE BRIEF: The clients who approached us was a couple who were the owners of a bungalow based in a small countryside village. Although being liveable in its existing state, the couple were looking to make improvements to the bungalow which would not only increase the amount of living space, but also add value to the property should they want to sell it in the future.

The improvements the couple wanted to make was an extension to the right hand side of the bungalow, which would increase the size of the space which was currently being used as the master bedroom, as well as create space for an ensuite to be added to the bedroom.

The Objective: To create drawings for the proposed extension to the bungalow, as well as draw plans which  outlined the potential new layout for the property. These drawings would then be supplied to the builder, ready to be sent off for planning application.

The Result: The first thing we did was meet with the couple to establish where exactly they would like the extension to go, and to discuss all the other potential options which were available to them. After we had a clear understanding of what the couple wanted, we then begun to undertake a measured site survey of the property, and take pictures of areas of the house where the work was to take place.

Once we had all this, we could then start work on drawing up the location and block plans for the property. These would be part of the documents which the builder would need to send off for planning application when the time came.

After these were completed, we could then begin drawing up another set of plans which outlined the existing layout of the property, as well as the newly proposed layout of the property after the extension had been built. With these completed, we then designed some proposed drawings of the extension, which would help to create a better all round understanding of the way the property would look.

With these complete, we then set off to meet with the couple again to present the newly created proposed drawings, and discuss with them to see if they would like any changes made. Having confirmed to us that they were more than happy with the drawings, we could then move on to the second phase of the planning process.

This second phase entailed drawing up a final proposed plan for the project, as well as a final set of plans for the elevations which would need to take place. With this created, all that was left to do from our side was piece all the drawings together and send them off for the builder. Once received, he then sent these off for planning application, which would hopefully give them the green light for the work to begin, and create the extension which the couple desired.

“We couldn’t be more happy with the plans Envision CAD produced for our bungalow. They listened carefully to our ideas, and the hard work they put in helped the project to go smoothly.”
